As part of the DataTwin project, a training and information session titled "Data Spaces: From Data to Value and Business" was delivered to students from the University of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Geodesy (UACEG). The event served as a training opportunity and an information day dedicated to presenting the DataTwin project, its objectives, and ongoing activities. Students were introduced to the project's vision of fostering data-driven innovation and advancing the adoption of Data Spaces in Bulgaria and across Europe.

The session was led by Dr. Eng. Atanas Stavrev and aimed to familiarize participants with the concept of Data Spaces, their role in enabling trusted data sharing, and the business opportunities they create for innovation and entrepreneurship.

During the training, students explored how Data Spaces function in practice and how they can serve as a foundation for developing new digital products, services, and business models.

The programme included several real-world examples and case studies, among them:

  • Catena-X, the first globally established collaborative data ecosystem for the automotive industry, demonstrating how Data Spaces enable multi-level cooperation across value and supply chains;

  • The challenges and opportunities related to health data sharing, highlighting the transformative potential of data-driven healthcare and medical research;

  • The European Health Data Space (EHDS), the first sector-specific European Data Space, its technical architecture, and emerging opportunities for business and innovation.

The training also provided practical insights into key aspects of Data Space ecosystems, including trust-building among participants, data security, interoperability, and the management of sensitive data in compliance with regulations such as the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

By connecting technological, regulatory, and business perspectives, the session helped students better understand how Data Spaces can drive innovation and support the development of sustainable business models in the digital economy.

Through initiatives such as this event, the DataTwin project continues to promote awareness, knowledge exchange, and capacity building, engaging students and future professionals in the opportunities offered by Data Spaces and the European data economy.
